Committee Overview

The Membership & Partnerships (MAP) Committee is composed of representatives from the GILC Member Organizations (GMOs) which are non-profit organizations that address Social Isolation, Loneliness, and Connection (SILC).

The Committee's purpose is to develop processes and engage in activities for recruiting and maintaining the GILC membership such as:

  • Developing GMO recruitment parameters and goals;

  • Developing and supporting ‘onboarding’ of new GMOs;

  • Assessing GMO feedback;

  • Developing new value propositions, communications and engagements strategies,  and making suggestions to the Steering Committee for new value-add activities;

  • Support all-GMO meetings including the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  • Ensuring GMO engagement in GILC activities and Committees; and

  • Identifying organizations that may serve as partners (funders, multi-national orgs, etc) who may not be candidates as GMOs but for Board consideration for potential partnerships.

COMMISSION on SOCIAL CONNECTION

Through ongoing advocacy and support of the members of GILC, the WHO launched the Commission on Social Connection in November 2023. Under this approach, the WHO is launching a series of campaigns, reports, and global tools to address social isolation, loneliness, and social connection.
