My Story
Stephen Ougo is a Global communication and policy strategist with experience working at both local and international development networks. He works at the intersection of SRHR, climate justice, gender equality, and digital innovation. He also advocates for social inclusion where he focuses his lens on how systemic issues like loneliness and disconnection affect community health and resilience
His advocacy extends beyond community work into national and global policy spaces, Stephen has a proven track record in strategic planning, public relations, and multi-stakeholder engagement. He has led efforts to amplify organizational visibility and refine institutional messaging for some of the most influential networks in Africa. He uses Human-Centered Design to ensure that policy shifts and communication strategies are grounded in the lived experiences of people.
Stephen leads You(th)SpacesAfrica, an organization committed to creating sustainable, community-centered structures for youth development. Through this platform, he works closely with communities, healthcare providers, educators, and policymakers to design systems that respond to the real needs of young people.
As a member of the Nairobi Youth Advisory Council, Stephen contributes to strategic discussions that shape youth-centered policies and development frameworks. He also hosts the AFSI Dialogues, a platform dedicated to amplifying youth voices and bridging the gap between young leaders and decision makers.
Stephen’s work reflects a powerful commitment to inclusion, ensuring that young people, women and marginalized groups have a seat at the table in conversations about rights, health, leadership and digital participation. He integrates resource mobilization and fundraising strategy into his work to sustain long-term systems transformation and remains committed to reshaping public discourse in ways that enhance inclusion, dignity, connection and collective responsibility.
